How to Conquer Angst and Spur the Economy

When reading this proposal on how to increase our GDP growth rate while we increase our investment with little risk in return I believe tapping into our natural gas would be very beneficial for our economy.  The numbers that seem staggering to me are the ones of Europes and China.  How does it work where Europe experiences no economic growth at all while you have the country of China growing 6 to 7% each year.  If we want our economy to grow with multiple benefits tagged along with it tapping our own gas would create an economic boom for us.  I agree 100% when Mercer claims that tapping into our own natural gas would pump money into investments while creating a significant amount of new jobs for us Americans.  Instead of paying for foreign gas to be imported into our country, we can supply our own Americans with jobs that would supply gas for the rest of our country.  The decision to do this would greatly impact our nation resulting in an economic expansion.  With this expansion our unemployment rate would decrease due to the amount of jobs that we would supply along with a reduced interest rate for our sales.

It doesn't make sense to pay foreigners to do something that were able to in our own country. By having gas imported to us we are charged with terrible prices and rates.  By tapping our own gas in our country we could lower gas prices tremendously due to not having to pay for the imports which we do on a regular basis.  Lowering our prices in gas allows us to put money towards different goods and services which would be beneficial for other businesses as well.  When people think that drilling our ground for gas will destroy our environment and pollute our earth It could make people a little hesitant about the idea.  There are always risks when it comes to achieving a goal.  It doesn't make sense to me why we haven't started this process yet, there are too many pros that out gain the cons.  Im sure there are factors that go into this decision that I have no idea about but from what I've read and what these economists have proposed there is no reason why we should not implement this idea as soon as possible.
